The 71A District Court
serves all of Lapeer County. The Court is responsible for
criminal misdemeanors, preliminary examinations in felony
cases, civil litigation up to $25,000, landlord tenant disputes
and land contract forfeitures, small claims ($5,000.00 and
less), all traffic violations and performing marriages.
The Court has one elected judges, two
appointed magistrates, four probation officers and a staff of
twelve employees.
The District Court is located in the
Lapeer County Complex Building.
